Hyundai Ioniq 5 N does well on the legendary Nürburgring circuit

The German publication Sport Auto continues to carry out tests on sports models on the Nürburgring circuit and, this time, it was up to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N to show its worth on the circuit with 156 curves and around 20 km in length, also known as “Green Hell”. ”. At the wheel of the South Korean electric sports car was the usual service driver, the German Christian Gebhard, with great experience on the track and with even more experience in touring cars, the ones most similar to series sports cars.

Even before taking to the track, Gebhard applauded Hyundai's willingness to hand over its first electric sports car to Sport Auto to submit to a test designed to prove where it fits into the ranking of the most efficient and fastest sports cars at the Nürburgring. Along the way, the driver took the opportunity to remember (and condemn) Porsche and Audi on Instagram, for never having risked subjecting their electric sports cars (Taycan and RS e-tron GT) to the same type of examination by an independent entity.

The Ioniq 5 N maintains the characteristics of Hyundai's family model, measuring 4.7 meters in length and having a generous 3 meters in wheelbase. But it mounts an engine with 238 hp at the front and another with 412 hp at the rear, which provide a total of 650 hp for 10 seconds, if the N Grin Boost function is activated, or 609 hp (226 hp plus 383 hp) without it. And this power, fed by a battery with a total capacity of 84 kWh, is capable of reaching 260 km/h and passing 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, announcing 448 km of autonomy.

The unit made available to Christian Gebhard was equipped with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and recorded a 7.45.59.
