Toyota Bozhi 4X arrives as upgraded bZ4X electric SUV
The Bozhi 4X from GAC-Toyota is rolling out to dealerships in China. The new model is the first from the sub-brand, with many similarities to the bZ4X, such as the e-TNGA platform and a 66.7 kWh ternary lithium battery. Optional upgrades include X-Mode, an off-roading feature designed with Subaru.
The Bozhi 4X uses the same e-TNGA platform as the bZ4X, with identical overall measurements of 4,690 x 1,860 x 1,650 mm (~185 x 73 x 65-in). The entry-level 615 Air trim of the new SUV has a 150kW motor at the front, with a maximum 266.3 Nm torque, accelerating from 0 to 50 kph (~31 mph) in 3.8 seconds; a 0 to 100 kph (~60 mph) acceleration time is not provided. The range-topping 4WD 560 Max trim has 80 kW motors at the front and rear, with an increased acceleration time to 50 kph (~31 mph) of 3.4 seconds. This version also has X-MODE for all-wheel drive assistance when off-roading. The feature, designed with Subaru, ensures grip is maintained in harsh conditions and helps you on steeper sections.
All versions have a 66.7 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery, providing a maximum estimated China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) range of 615 km (~382 miles), the same as the bZ4X. A 30-minute DC fast charge will increase the range from 30% to 80%. Interior features include a 12.3-inch infotainment screen size with support for Apple CarPlay, Baidu CarLife+ and HUAWEI HiCar. Plus, there are safety features, including lane tracking and a parking assistant.
The GAC-Toyota Bozhi 4X electric SUV is now available via dealerships in China with prices starting from 179,800 yuan (~$25,190). The AWD 560Max version costs 238,800 yuan (~$33,460). Whether Toyota plans to launch this upgraded version of the bZ4X in other markets remains unclear.
