RALLY DAKAR 2024

De Mevius has surprised with a victory in his debut in the Dakar in cars

Although its leaders have not been the most outstanding today (with Lucas Moraes and Yazeed Al-Rajhi outside the top 5 and top 10), the very renovated Toyota Hilux that has debuted in this Dakar is showing that it can be a force to be taken into account as the days go by.

Today it was De Mevius(image above) who crowned him with his first victory (clean of punctures, by the way and with the additional merit of being his first stage of the Dakar in cars), but other units have sneaked up there, with less common names of the leading positions like the rookie Botterill (who was running second until the last reference). Others were not so lucky, like Seth Quintero who, in addition to being one of those in charge of opening the track, had an early puncture that forced him to lift his foot.

Goczal family festival...No matter how expected, the mastery of the situation by young Eryk Goczal, who - with the invaluable help of his co-driver, Oriol Mena, has also scored the victory in stage 1 and, therefore, is surprising. Of course, he is the overall leader in Challenger T3.

Curiously, the three members of the Goczal family, Eryk, Michal and Marek have taken the first three places of the day (all with the powerful Taurus). Cristina Gutiérrez spent the day well with a creditable fifth place, 13:26 behind the young Czech prodigy.

In SSV, Gerard Farrés was second today, only behind Rodrigo Varela and ahead of the very fast Sara Price, who is confirmed as one of the forces in the category.
