Porsche 911 (964) ITA001 Theon Design
Theon Design has revealed its latest project based on the Porsche 911 (964). Created for its first Italian customer, a demanding collector from Milan, the ITA001 transforms with an ultra-lightweight full carbon fiber body, semi-active suspension and a powerful 6-cylinder, 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine.
The ITA001 is a customer's fantasy based on the Porsche 911. It is a fully restored and improved machine that, as with all Theon Design programs, combines engineering and design expertise with cutting-edge technology and manufacturing techniques.
This creation is based on the Porsche 911 (964), in this case a Carrera 4 Coupe. The donor car was stripped of almost everything before being meticulously restored. The body was reinvented and made from carbon fiber. Each body panel was scanned and modeled in 3D design software to ensure a perfect fit. Carbon fiber panels add rigidity and reduce weight. The ITA001 weighs 1,152 kg with all liquids.
The attention to detail even extends to the electrical harnesses, which are lighter in aerospace grade, or the modern dual air conditioning compressors and a new electric power steering pump, all relocated to offer correct weight distribution.
The same care was taken under the rear hood, where a 4.0-liter air-cooled engine was mounted: a 6-cylinder boxer work of art that produces 400 hp at 7,500 rpm and 427 Nm at 6,250 rpm.
The model has a dual-mass flywheel that ensures that the 6-cylinder engine offers excellent response. The engine breathes through a completely ceramic-coated exhaust, sending power to the rear wheels via an original 6-speed transmission borrowed from the Porsche 993 RS, one of 1,104 units built.
A limited-slip differential from the 993 RS completes the package, working in harmony with the carefully selected gearbox to ensure signature Porsche traction and control.
Dynamic capability has been transformed thanks to a five-stage TracTive Active Electronic Controlled Damping (ACE) system, carefully calibrated during countless miles of testing to perform smoothly in a wide range of driving environments.
The bodywork is finished in the classic Porsche Schwartz Black color, a shade from the 70s, offset by discreet gray ‘Ghost’ stripes, with a matching PORSCHE lettering on the sides. The rich paintwork is perfectly complemented by the 18-inch Fuchs wheels with champagne accents.
Porsche 911 (964) ITA001starts at $465,105 (£380,000)
