SUBARU
The all-new 2025 Forester. Look what love can do.
This week the Los Angeles Motor Show began, and with it came a good number of launches, especially from American brands, and also others from abroad, but with an important presence in the United States. This last case is that of Subaru, where models like the Forester have been in the market for a long time and have an important presence. Now the crossover arrives with a renovation that has notably transformed its appearance, but without giving up its versatile SUV essence.
This gives rise to a Forester that displays a slightly cleaner and more horizontal front end than the previous version, although it has not lacked character with a new grille that seems to merge with its new, very stylized LED headlights. The body lines also appear to have been softened, while maintaining the usual functional silhouette. The rear also displays a notably new appearance with two much more rounded headlights joined by a horizontal line that crosses the famous Subaru insignia.
The improvements continue in an interior that, although very familiar, has evolved to be simpler and more elegant than the previous model, again with the 11.6-inch Starlink infotainment system available on higher trims. Nor will it be missing, of course, Subaru's advanced EyeSight driving assistant system, with elements such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane change alert. Forester Tourings also feature Subaru's DriverFocus system that monitors driver attention and fatigue, as well as a camera that can be used for basic gesture control. Using only his hands, the driver can raise or lower the temperature in the passenger compartment.
In terms of dimensions and interior space, the new Forester is quite similar to its predecessor in these aspects, being slightly longer and wider, although with the same distance between the axles and the same ground clearance. Passenger space is slightly smaller, although the trunk volume has grown by 5.6 liters to reach a total of 2,106 liters with the second row of seats folded down.
Under the hood there are no surprises. Subaru continues to rely on its famous 4-cylinder 2.5-liter Boxer engine that offers 180 hp and 241 Nm of torque in this American version. These figures are slightly better than those of the previous version, almost imperceptible, which once again reach all four wheels through a retuned CVT transmission to achieve smoother and quieter performance according to the brand, and through its famous permanent all-wheel drive system.
The new Subaru Forester will be launched in North America in the second quarter of 2024.
