MERCURY
Mercury Verado V10
You have probably seen the new outboards circulating during the summer.
350- and 400-horsepower V10s. We are talking about new engines for what concerns the Verado range that are gaining quite a lot of space in the installations of new powerboats, also accomplice to the very in vogue power they give off.
350 and 400hp Mercury Verado V10...On power between 300 and 400 horsepower, the demand is always very high. These new outboards are created to consolidate the American brand’s already strong presence in the market. With a displacement of 5.7 liters we are dealing with very powerful engines. They are designed to fit on 26″ (66 cm) centers, which allows, for example, more powerful re-engineering. In terms of interface and control, they have at their disposal the latest technologies, such as SmartCraft and digital controls with which to maneuver, for example at mooring, in a more intuitive way.
Another interesting feature is the weight: 316 kg in both cases (350 and 400 hp) these engines boast a weight-to-power ratio, among the best on the market today.
A single, four-bladed Revolution X propeller is provided for these Mercury outboards, designed to best deliver all the power. Not a counter-rotating double propeller, then, as we had seen on the Verado 600hp V12 and as found on other models of equal power on the market, but a single one rather large in diameter. The Rev X, precisely, with its size and lines is designed both to push at high speeds and to have good grip on the water at low speeds.
Mercury Verado V10 350 and 400hp – Technologies: Among the most popular technologies available is the“Adaptive Speed Control” by which these Mercury outboards keep their engine speed unchanged under changes in load or conditions.
Verado V10 outboards perform best with 87-octane gasoline. As engines also designed for longer sailing, they have systems that improve range such as the closed-loop fuel system andAdvanced Range Optimisation (ARO), which operates at cruising speed.
Also on board is a 150-amp alternator, among the most powerful in its class, which keeps the batteries charged to support the (ever-increasing) electronics on board. In this sense it can also work in an integrated way with Navico’s Fathom system.
