Volvo EC350DL: the new excavator for the quarrying, heavy infrastructure works and mining segments

The model is intended for the quarrying, heavy infrastructure works and mining segments. The new excavator incorporates all the brand's characteristics already known and highly valued by the market. It's cutting-edge technology that includes an agile hydraulic system, the fuel-efficient Volvo D8 engine and Volvo's exclusive ECO mode. The EC350DL has fast cycle times, high digging power and low fuel consumption.

“The EC350DL has high structural robustness that distinguishes Volvo excavators. The hydraulic system, which moves the entire machine, is agile, harmonious and extremely advanced, with cutting-edge management. The power control of the hydraulic pump is electro-hydraulic, for greater precision in controlling the system flow, improving equipment efficiency. Volvo electronics allow fine adjustments for each operation”, says Boris Sánchez, head of product management and productivity services at Volvo Construction Equipment in Latin America.

Strength and resistance...The main structure of the machine easily absorbs impacts transferred from the digging assembly. Track shoes have different widths that increase stability and flotation. For superior durability, the entire support structure and engine mounts are reinforced.

The solid structure also extends to the arm, boom and the 2.33 cubic meter V4ED bucket, all reinforced for severe work. Optionally, the boom's floating feature allows it to float above the ground using gravitational force alone. The option releases hydraulic flow to other circuits and thus guarantees faster cycles.

The EC350DL offers 10 working modes. The operator can select according to the application. It now includes G4 mode, which further improves fuel efficiency and performance.

Comfort and safety...The comfort and safety of the cabin are the already established Volvo standard. “The controls are responsive. The operator feels integrated into the machine. The color LCD monitor displays all relevant machine status information. The project features a large, anti-glare, tiltable screen to ensure easy reading,” says the Volvo executive. The cabin has excellent visibility. The seat has several adjustments that make it easier for the operator to find the ideal position. Air recirculation inside the cabin guarantees a homogeneously air-conditioned environment. There are 14 openings spread throughout the cabin to increase driver comfort and productivity.

Maintenance...Another high point of the EC350DL is maintenance, which is simple and easily accessible. The radiator, intercooler and hydraulic oil heat exchanger sit side by side in a single layer to maximize efficiency, prevent clogging and aid cleaning. Filters are grouped together and lubrication points are easy to access from ground level through large, wide doors. The same applies to the electrical distribution box, with all fuses and relays, also easily accessible from ground level.
