MG and Mahindra obtained zero stars in ANCAP crash tests

If Europeans trust EuroNCAP to crash all cars that are sold and then analyze the degree of safety with which they protect those traveling on board, Australians and Asians have ANCAP to carry out the same type of crash tests on vehicles on board. sale in the respective markets. But not only do not everyone reach the maximum score (five stars), but two models were surprisingly negative by revealing a performance that only deserved them... zero stars.

Until now, only one model had achieved the lowest score, but the MG 5 and the Mahindra Scorpio decided to keep it company. Those who might not have liked it, besides the Chinese from MG and the Indians from Mahindra, the manufacturers targeted, were certainly the customers who purchased one of these vehicles and who are probably now worried about the outcome of a hypothetical accident.

ANCAP CEO, Carla Hoorweg, summarized the situation by declaring that “both manufacturers underestimated the safety expectations of current consumers”, explaining that the poor result of the two models reflects “the lack of safety systems that are now common in general of cars for sale on the market”.

In addition to evaluating the behavior of both models during frontal, side and pole collisions (which represent tree trunks), ANCAP also penalized the absence of some driver assistance devices, such as the one that keeps the vehicle in the lane. , which detects other cars in the blind spot or which ensures emergency braking, not to mention which monitors the driver's level of attention, or which warns you if you have left a child forgotten inside the car.
