Lamborghini Urus Performante for the Italian police...
A new Lamborghini arrives for the Italian police. In Rome's Piazza del Viminale, the Sant'Agata Bolognese brand delivered a new Urus to agents, which will enter service in 2024.
This SUV is the brand's sixth car delivered to this police force and celebrates a collaboration that has lasted 20 years. The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, attended the event; the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi; the Chief of Police, Vittorio Pisani, and the President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann.
The example of the crossover is a Performante version with the non-electrified 4.0 V8 biturbo engine with 666 hp and 850 Nm of torque. The 8-cylinder block propels the Lamborghini from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and allows it to reach a top speed of 306 km/h.
Added to this high power is the versatility of the SUV body, as the Urus can accommodate up to five people, in addition to having a trunk capacity of at least 616 liters.
And speaking of aesthetics, the vehicle was customized at Centro Stile Lamborghini, whose designers (directed by Mitja Borkert) combined the classic Blue Polizia di Stato tone with white, applying the Police logos in reflective film on the doors.
On the ceiling, a light bar with 360° blue LED lights was installed, combined with a two-color electric siren. In this way, the Lamborghini proves to be a useful ace up the police's sleeve for urgent missions such as transporting organs, one of the tasks entrusted until now also to the Huracán.
Finally, as for the interior, as is usual in police cars, the cabin was equipped with several essential elements for the public security service, such as an armored drawer for weapons, a special compartment in the trunk to store police material, a defibrillator for first aid operations and, above all, a portable refrigerator for transporting organs.
During the handover ceremony, Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, commented: “It is a great pleasure for us to renew our 20-year collaboration with the police. Knowing that our models are used for public utility functions and, above all, for operations that are decisive in saving human lives, is a source of pride for me and the entire company. These initiatives, which we carry out with great satisfaction, represent yet another demonstration of our bond with our country.”
