AUTONEWS

Under-bonnet installation of electric hardware is a bit messy looking - because it was really designed for a combustion engine.

e-Revolt: the German company that converts your vehicle with a gasoline or diesel engine into an electrified model, but for €12,000

If you have a vehicle with a gasoline or diesel engine, know that there is a German company that converts it into an electric vehicle for prices starting at €12,000. And there are 42 models you can transform.

More and more drivers are thinking about purchasing a new battery-powered electric vehicle, or it wasn't the segment of the market that has grown the most in recent times. But this type of technology is still expensive and old combustion cars are worth less and less, meaning not all drivers with less purchasing power are able to purchase a new battery-powered car. Hence the interest around a German startup that proposes converting combustion cars into battery-powered electric ones for prices between €12,000 and €15,000.

Located in Dachau, Germany, e-Revolt offers its customers the possibility of transforming vehicles that originally had gasoline or diesel engines into electric vehicles. The startup also informs that the operation takes, on average, 8 hours and that it has already developed transformation kits for 42 models, certainly the most popular in Germany.

Transformations of this type are not new, and there are even some companies in Portugal that carry them out successfully. But, throughout Europe, modifications from combustion to electric are more common among classic models, or at least old tops of the range, pet vehicles for their owners who want to continue using them freely, without having to invest in major repairs. mechanics to avoid breakdowns and especially unpleasant smoke.

e-Revolt can operate on any type of vehicle, but currently prefers to focus on more affordable models. And he gives as an example a Golf MK VII, the penultimate generation, which until now had a diesel engine. According to the photos revealed by the startup, the process involves removing the diesel mechanics and in its place installing the electric motor, the converter and the entire energy management system, as well as the on-board charger.

The battery should occupy the bottom of the trunk – as the transformation takes just 8 hours, it will not be easy to make major changes involving sheet metal, welding and painting – and promises a range of between 250 and 300 km, without the company announcing the capacity of the accumulator, nor the power with which it accepts being recharged.
