ALFA ROMEO
Alfa Tonale from the ‘Polizia di Stato’
We already knew that the Alfa Romeo Tonale would wear the uniform of the Italian ‘Polizia di Stato’. In fact, a photo of the first police Tonale had already been released around last European summer.
However, the first example of this police Alfa Romeo was handed over to the corporation, in an official event, held at the Center Stile Biscione in Turin (Italy), in the presence of local authorities and representatives of the brand.
Among others, the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, the Chief of Police, Vittorio Pisani, the General Director of Alfa Romeo, Jean-Philippe Imparato, and the General Director of Stellantis in Italy, Santo Ficili, were present.
In the first half of 2024, 850 Alfa Romeo Tonale will ‘dress’ in the uniform of the Italian police. The delivery is part of a public competition for the police corporation won by Stellantis and which reinforces the link between the Italian brand and the ‘Polizia di Stato’.
The car is equipped with ballistic and explosion protection, at the same time as it is equipped with the Mercurio Extended system, the multimedia connectivity system for territorial control services, used by the police in their interventions. Everything, in vehicles that are arriving at police stations starting this December.
Remembering that the long relationship between both entities dates back to the 1950s, when a 1900 Ti Super was incorporated into the police force. From then on, the famous Giulietta 1300 and Giulia Super 1600 entered service.
A link over time that has continued, both with the Alfa Romeo 33 in the 80s, to give an example, and with the more recent Alfa Romeo 155, 159 and Giulia.
The Alfa Romeo Tonale from ‘Polizia di Stato’ is equipped with a 1.5 micro hybrid gasoline engine, with 160 hp, coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
