TOYOTA

Toyota's Hilux proves it is indestructible

When it comes to robustness, Japanese pick-ups have the reputation – and according to some users, the advantage – of being almost indestructible, as is the case with Toyota's Hilux. A series of videos made by the television program Top Gear contributed greatly to this reputation, which subjected the popular work and leisure vehicle to an endless series of atrocities, like the one you can see below. The purpose of the torture carried out by Jeremy Clarkson and his team was to see to what extent the pick-up was still able to move around, after having “actively participated” in the demolition of a building.

More recently, a citizen of an Arab country decided to repeat the Top Gear project, but with less cost and in a less cinematic way, even though the model was equally crushed. Not many details are known, but in the video published on social media (which you can see below) a pick-up is visible, without a square centimeter of bodywork to be dented, entering with such ease what appears to be a battery workshop. sheets that looked like they were just trying to repair a scratch in the paint.

Crashed all around, with no headlights or taillights to make it easier to identify the version – apart from the grille, which seems to have better resisted the storm – this single-cab pick-up has some similarities with Toyota's 70 Series pick-ups, model that debuted in the late 1980s. However, more detailed research revealed that a slightly renewed version of this 35-year-old vehicle, the predecessor of the current Hilux, is still sold in countries such as Bahrain.
