The new Toyota Corolla – a phone instead of a key

In upgrades for the 2024 model year, the Toyota Corolla introduces digital key technology as well as the nanoe-X air quality system and new color options.

In the first part of the year, Toyota presented the renewed Corolla, which received the latest (fifth) generation of hybrid drive. As a reminder, the fifth generation uses hybrid systems with 1.8 and 2.0 gasoline engines, the total power of which has been increased to 103 kW (140 HP) and 144 kW (196 HP). The new system is not only more powerful but also lighter and with reduced mechanical and electrical losses, which led to an additional reduction in consumption.

After the innovations in the drive system, in the innovations for the 2024 model year, Toyota focuses on ease of use and a more pleasant stay in the car.

The new smart digital key allows access and start of the car via smartphone instead of using a physical key. The smart digital key is compatible with Apple and Android phones and allows up to five profiles (users) for each vehicle. An authorized user only needs to have the phone with them to unlock the door and start the car – no need to launch an access app.

Technology facilitates sharing access between family members or authorizing others to use the vehicle, such as service workers, etc. The system will also be useful for companies when using it in vehicle fleets, as well as for car sharing platforms.

In addition to easier entry and start of the vehicle, the new Corolla air conditioning system with nanoe-X air purification technology will make the stay in the car even more pleasant. The system was developed by Panasonic and introduces ionized nano water particles into the ventilation system. Independent laboratory research has confirmed the beneficial effects of the so-called of hydroxyl radicals when used indoors. This includes preventing the activity of airborne bacteria and viruses, preventing the spread of mold, blocking pollen and other allergens, breaking down dangerous particles in the solid particles of vehicle exhaust, and removing unpleasant odors.

Also, the use of nanoe-X maintains an optimal level of humidity in the cabin air, which has a positive effect on human skin and hair. All of the above is especially important in urban areas where air pollution is the greatest.

Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports model year 2024 also get Super Green metallic paint, which is available exclusively in a two-tone version in combination with a black roof and roof racks.
