PEUGEOT

There are more and more Fiat engines in the Peugeot 208 range

The Peugeot 208 is produced in Argentina for the South American market, which differs from the European model in several points. Let’s start with the suspension adapted to bad roads, which provides 10 mm more ground clearance, to steel covers instead of aluminum (heavier, but cheaper), and at that point the model is only offered with Fiat engines.

In Brazil, due to local tax regulations, engines under 1.0 liters are preferred, and taking the Fiat block was easier and faster. Last summer, the 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine was put under the hood of the Peugeot 208, and now a turbo version will also be available – while the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated Peugeot engine will also remain in the range.

The output of the 1.0-liter turbo engine is 125 hp with gasoline, 130 hp with ethanol, the maximum torque is 200 Nm (1750/min), and it is only offered with a continuously variable automatic transmission (there are also 7 simulated gears, if someone wants to switch themselves).

Customers are not forced to use the downsizing power source, the 1.6 naturally aspirated engine (120 HP, with 6-speed automatic transmission) offered so far will remain in the range at essentially the same price (the difference is less than HUF 150,000). The starting price of the Peugeot 208 Turbo 200 is 99,990 reais in Brazil.
