Jorge Martín attacks Misano and Dani Pedrosa caresses the podium six years later
There is a World Cup! Jorge Martín(on the front bike) has recovered 14 points from MotoGP leader Pecco Bagnaia this weekend, after taking everything in Misano. Pole, victory in the sprint and in the race; 37 out of 37. In fact, the Madrid native is already within reach of a Grand Prix for the first time in a long time.
The long race had little to do with the sprint, even though the podium was copied. This time Martín could not escape and Bagnaia pushed him in the first laps, but the Italian ran out of gas as the race progressed and his physical condition, heavily burdened after the terrifying accident in Montmeló, condemned him. His suffering in the MotoGP parc fermé when he got off the Ducati said it all.
Bagnaia has saved a very complicated weekend, losing points with Martín and Bezzecchi, but maintains an advantage of 36 and 65 points over his rivals.
And once again, Martín had to share the spotlight with Dani Pedrosa, who signed another dream race and was 669 thousandths away from a podium, almost six years after the last one he achieved in Valencia 2017. It is clear that we lost Dani Pedrosa as permanent driver too soon…
