2024 Mitsubishi Delica D

The Mitsubishi Delica will be 55 years old this year 2023. And for those who have never heard of it, it is a van born in 1968 as a light commercial vehicle.

Initially designed and offered with both pick-up and van bodies, for the transport of goods and people, it was based on a shortened version of the chassis with spars from the also commercial Mitusbishi Canter.

Over more than half a century of history, Delica has conquered audiences all over the world, although it has not arrived in Brazil. And to celebrate its history, the Japanese manufacturer has decided to take advantage of the Asia Cross Country Rally, where it will be used as an official support vehicle for the brand's official team.

To celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Delica, Mitsubishi Motors will supply a total of four vans to the Mitsubishi Ralliart team as competition support vehicles.

This special version of the van, designed to be used in the tough Asian race, is equipped with all the standard features of the Delica D:5, such as a reinforced steel bodywork and an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system, capable of offering great maneuverability. and grip on any type of surface.

In addition, Japanese engineers chose to customize the four vehicles with some 'special' accessories. For example, to withstand the entire rally, the series light alloy wheels were replaced by more resistant aluminum ones, shod with Yokohama Rubber tires designed for use in muddy terrain.

Of the four Mitsubishi Delica D:5 used in the Asian rally, according to the company, one will be dedicated to transporting the team director, who from the vehicle will be able to observe the L200 in real time and plan specific strategies.

This van will presumably be the one that will see the most wear and tear during the event, so it has been fitted with JAOS front and rear suspension for a more comfortable and efficient ride over rough terrain.

Finally, on an aesthetic level, all Delicas used in the raid will have the special decoration that is also used on the team's L200, in red and black.
