LAMBORGHINI

Eccentric Lamborghini Diablo

Eccentrica Lamborghini Diablo restomod

The Lamborghini Diablo is back, in the form of a restomod project presented today by Eccentrica.

It should be said that this company based in Milan was founded by Emanuele Colombini (Lamborghini collector), in cooperation with Carlo Borromeo who is the owner of the design firm Borromeo & De Silva.

According to Eccentrica, their ambition is “to take inspiration from a myth like the Diablo, to improve the mechanical engineering of the Lamborghini Diablo and make it a truly unique, new icon in the supercar universe, as well as a symbol of the combination of past, present and future”.

Eccentrica is said to have perfected every body panel, every interior surface and every mechanical element to meet the expectations of modern drivers.

The Eccentrica Diablo is inspired by the track-focused GTR. Almost every body panel on the car has been modified to be more functional or lighter than the original. These include details such as the front grille which now helps to improve airflow over the vehicle.

Exotic materials, such as carbon fiber and 3D printed titanium, help modify the Diablo, providing greater stiffness while also making it lighter. In addition, the front and rear lights have been tweaked.

The company says that although the overall length of the vehicle is unchanged, the overhangs are now shorter, while the 19-inch alloy wheels are inspired by the world of motorsport.

The interior is covered in leather and Alcantara, and the company says it replaced every plastic part in the vehicle with a finer material to improve ergonomics.

The steering column is made of carbon fiber, and the steering wheel and digital display have been modernized. Sound system is provided by Marantz.

The original 5.7 liter V12 engine remains, but now with 404 kW/550 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Although that’s only 42 kW/58 hp more than before, Eccentrica says that thanks to a projected power-to-weight ratio of 2.9 kg/hp, their Diablo will be able to reach 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and maximum speed of 335 km/h.

Thanks to Brembo brake calipers and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, the car will be able to stop from 100 km/h to zero in just 34 meters. That’s a 20 percent improvement over the original car.

Thanks to the available variations in color, upholstery, fabrics and materials, Eccentrica says no two Diablos will be the same. Each of them will take between 16 and 18 months to build and will cost 1.2 million euros, on top of the cost of the donor’s car.

The car was unveiled in Milan today, and the first test vehicle of the Eccentrica Diablo will head to the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month, followed by Monterey Motor Week.

The Lamborghini Diablo was normally in production from 1990 to 2001, with a V12 engine that had between 492 hp and 603 hp, depending on the variant. In the 11-year production cycle, a total of 2,884 examples left the Sant’Agata factory.
