VOLVO

A new manufacturer would give drivers a bigger cab

FH Globetrotter XXL: new bigger cabin

You don’t have to wait much longer for the Volvo FH cab with an increased floor area – it was revealed at the 4Poland trade show, which is still taking place. The information was leaked by the Polish 40ton.net. According to the portal, the managing director of Volvo Trucks Polska, Małgorzata Kulis, revealed that the “extended” FH cab, which fully utilizes the possibilities inherent in the latest EU regulations, could be presented as early as next year.

The new FH Globetrotter XXL cab is likely to be similar in many ways to the Volvo FH concept tractor unit presented two years ago, which, as evidenced by the picture, had an updated and modernized dashboard. According to Małgorzata Kulis, the series-produced FH cabs with an increased floor area will probably also receive digital rear-view mirrors. This can even bring a 1-2 percent reduction in consumption to the kitchen, much to the delight of the operators. What the drivers can really benefit from in terms of comfort is clearly the wider bed and the larger legroom.

Volvo Trucks has not yet released official images of the new cab, so we will certainly have to wait a few more months. However, it is more than likely that they not only increase the comfort of the driver, but also further improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the cabin by using the experience of the already mentioned Efficiency Concept Truck. The nose of the FH was extended by 17.5 centimeters to make it more streamlined. The Swedish manufacturer tested the concept model in Brazil, away from European eyes, and it seems that the time has come to put the latest solutions into practice.

With this, Volvo Trucks would show its two competitors, DAF and Scania, that it can also build a larger cab if necessary. The former offers its larger and more spacious cabin in the XG and XG+ series, and the latter in the S-series under the name Highline XL.
