RENAULT

RENAULT 5 CONCEPT

Model 5 EV will offer two-way charging thanks to the Mobilize V2G service

Renault intends to introduce a new 5 EV small electric car, which is based on the design of its legendary predecessor. The novelty will also be interesting for being the first Renault to offer support for V2G technology. The car must therefore withstand not only charging from the mains, but also the opposite direction, when it can supply electricity to the mains in reverse. For this, of course, you will need compatible Mobilize Powerbox chargers or other similar solutions.

The idea is basically simple. It's a connection between the car and the cloud, which determines when the car should be charged, and on the other hand, the car should help stabilize the grid and supply power. Of course, all this will also depend on the user himself, his needs and the price of energy. Bidirectional charging with outputs from 7 to 22 kW must be supported.

Renault 5 Mobilize V2G

Here, the Mobilize V2G service and mobile applications can be used, where the user can choose in advance when he wants to take the car out, how long he wants to keep it charged, with the need for mobility always being a priority. For car users, this can have the advantage of reselling energy, they can let their car earn money or reduce electricity bills. It is assumed that thanks to this, the price of electricity for users can be reduced by about half.

The electric car will also offer a classic 220V output, so, according to the manufacturer, it can be used, for example, to power an electric grill during a picnic, a vacuum cleaner for cleaning the interior and many other purposes. The Renault 5 will be offered with the Mobilize V2G service, offered by provider The Mobility House, from the start of sales in selected countries. From 2024 it will offer this in France and Germany, from 2025 also in Great Britain. Later, this function will be added to other cars of the brand.
