AUTONEWS

Mitsubishi L200

Mitsubishi L200 2024 premiered on July 26

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation unveiled the XRT, a concept car at the Bangkok Motor Show earlier this year as a preview of the all-new Triton pickup truck slated for a fiscal 2023 launch.

Now comes the confirmation that the official promotion of the series model will be held on July 26.

The Triton (in Europe as the L200) is Mitsubishi Motors’ best-selling model manufactured at the Laemchabang plant in Thailand and the company’s global strategic vehicle, which is exported to around 150 countries worldwide.

The new Triton will be the sixth generation of this brand’s mid-size pickup truck. After launching in Thailand in FY2023, it will be offered in the ASEAN region, Oceania and other global markets.

Mitsubishi has not yet released the vehicle’s specifications, but it is expected that the new Triton will be based on a modified base of the Nissan Navara and will be equipped with a turbo-diesel engine.

At the Asia Cross Country Rally 2023, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, which receives technical support from Mitsubishi Motors, plans to compete with the prototype cross-country model of the all-new Triton (Group T1 specification) in search of a second consecutive victory.

Mitsubishi Motors uses rally expertise as feedback in the development of its production vehicles, as it strives to create vehicles that provide safe, comfortable driving enjoyment in all weather and road conditions.

“Fiscal 2023 is an important year for Mitsubishi Motors to accelerate our business in the ASEAN region, with the launch of the all-new Triton and the all-new compact SUV,” said Takao Kato, president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors.

“The all-new Triton is undergoing the final touches in preparation for its release, as we have carried out rigorous endurance tests around the world, while also incorporating the knowledge gained from rally activity. With the launch of the new vehicle as a central element, we will continue our pursuit of further growth.”
