SCANIA

Scania Plus é até 7% mais barato frente à linha Super Euro 6

Brand starts selling the new R Euro 6 line in Brazil: R 450 4x2 and 6x2 and R 540 6x4

Scania starts selling the Plus line of trucks in Brazil. These are the R 450 4x2 and 6x2 and R 540 6x4 models. That is, the brand's bestsellers in the era of Euro 5 engines. And that, with the turn to Euro 6 technology, ceased to exist. They gave way to the Super engine and its new maximum powers of 460 hp and 560 hp.

In any case, by bringing back such powers in the Plus generation, Scania now offers more economical trucks on the market, since they comply with the Euro 6 standard. However, they are between 6% and 7% cheaper than the Super models from generation. Thus, for the sake of magnitude, while the R 450 Plus costs an average of R$ 920,000 (without taxes), the R 460 Super reaches R$ 1,050 million (local currency).

In any case, technically, the Plus range has a Euro 5 engine with after-treatment systems to meet the Euro 6 standard. In other words, SCR technology, in addition to DOC and DPF systems. Furthermore, the trucks are equipped with the same power train as the Euro 5 generation. Differently from the Super line, which arrives with a new Euro 6 engine and a renovated gearbox.

In this sense, Plus trucks are equipped with the GRS box. While the Super has new G25 or G33 boxes, depending on the model. However, in common, the trucks of both lines have 885 axles.

In terms of diesel economy, it is worth remembering that Super trucks are the ones that showed the greatest reduction. That is, around 28% savings compared to the P, G and R Series. After all, it is worth remembering that, since 2019, Scania has introduced a series of solutions that, until last year, made trucks 20% more economical. Like the new generation XPI engine, as well as Active Cruise and Smart Throttle. And, with the arrival of Euro 6, they gained an additional 8% in savings.

On the other hand, the Plus gained 2% savings with Euro 6. In other words, it totals 22% diesel savings compared to the P, G and R Series. it is 6% more economical. In this sense, the Plus still have a cabin, a retarder, among other solutions available today on the Super. And, for now, it is only available in the Brazilian market.

Scania Director of Sales and Transport Solutions Alex Nucci says the automaker has developed these models because of the current market situation. With the difficulty of accessing credit and high interest rates, the market is falling. Mainly because the Euro 6 trucks increased in average 25% in price compared to the Euro 5 trucks.

"The Super brings an important technology increase. These new features made the price of the truck increase. And our customers wanted to keep the Scania brand. But, because of the current situation, many cannot afford this price increase. So, we went looking for an alternative for the customer", says Nucci.

Be that as it may, Scania managed to sell 4,000 trucks from the Super range. In addition, the brand sold 150 Euro 6 buses for road and charter transport.
