VOLKSWAGEN GOLF R 333 LIMITED EDITION SERÁ APRESENTADO NO DIA 31 DE MAIO

Golf R 333 Limited Edition...Everyone must remember the Golf R400, a prototype presented in 2014 at the Beijing Motor Show. There were also rumors of an R420 coming as a production version. Sadly, the most brutal Volkswagen Golf in history never came to fruition.

In 2022, the brand from Wolfsburg launched the most powerful version of its 'hot hatch', with the so-called 20th Anniversary Edition, intended to commemorate two decades of 'R' family cars.

Now, Volkswagen has released on YouTube an advance of a Golf R 333 Limited Edition, in yellow and teaser format, before its official presentation, scheduled for May 31st. That '333' probably refers to engine horsepower, which would match the figure offered by the aforementioned 20th Anniversary Edition.

So, if this really comes to fruition, we are talking about another special edition that would equal the power record in the history of the saga, with the 2.0 TSI engine delivering a maximum torque of 420 Nm.

The teaser video shows the inscription '333' in black, running along the bottom of the doors, along with the mirror housings also in black and an Akrapovic exhaust system with four exits.

Also noteworthy are the 19-inch Estoril wheels, with blue brake calipers. Like the 20th Anniversary Edition, it is likely to be sold as a five-door body only, although the 'regular' Golf R is also available in some markets as a practical station wagon.

So, as long as the same configuration as the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is used, this improved Golf R will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, and reach a top speed of 270 km/h (self-limited). .

In addition, considering that Volkswagen has already informed that the Golf restyling will be launched in 2024, the next special version will be based on the existing model. What is certain is that it will not be cheap, at least if we take into account the price of the Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition in Europe: around 70,000 euros.
