Octavia RS: 4 generations
During the first update of the Octavia model, already produced under the auspices of the VW concern, the RS version was released in 2000, with a 1.8 turbo engine manufactured in Győr with 5 valves per cylinder and 180 horsepower. 2 years later, this unit was also available with a station wagon body, which allowed a top speed of 235 km/h – tighter dampers, extra body reinforcements and more powerful brakes completed the package. When the Octavia Tour was produced as an inexpensive alternative to the second generation, the Octavia Tour GT was available in some markets, which was the previous RS model, with a 193 horsepower turbo engine. The second generation(image above) presented in 2006 was 150 kg heavier, but thanks to the 6-speed manual transmission, the maximum speed of the model equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine and 200 hp increased to 240 km/h. It was a first that the 6-speed DSG transmission and a 2.0-liter 170 hp turbodiesel (maximum speed 224 km/h) could be selected for the Octavia RS, which had a more comfortable suspension and better sound insulation than its predecessor. The third generation(image above) was to increase power, the 2.0 turbo engine started with 220 horsepower, then continued with 230 horsepower and said goodbye to 245 horsepower, the 2.0 TDI had 184 horsepower, and from 2015 it was also available with all -Wheel Drive. Like the first Škoda, this car received a steering wheel with a straight flange at the bottom. The fourth Škoda Octavia RS kept the 245 hp turbo engine, while the 2.0 TDI has 200 hp. The plug-in hybrid unit with a system power of 245 horsepower was introduced as a novelty.
