FORD

Big price drop for the Ford Mustang Mach-E!

The Ford Mustang Mach-E electric crossover is now getting a big entry-level price drop, which brings it closer to its competitors, but still makes it too expensive.

It was Ford’s first global electric model: the Mustang Mach-E. Late in this niche, the Dearborn firm had capitalized on its legendary sports car: the Mustang. It mutated in 2020 to a funny crossover, straddling coupe and SUV. It was recognizable at the rear of the striated lights in three bands, introduced on the first Mustang in 1964. The Ford logo disappeared in favor of the mythical horse (a mustang in this case) prancing. The slender headlamps and aggressive look were also a nod to the mythical pony car. Even its name, Mach-E, is a reference to the Mach 1, the sporty version of the very first Mustang from 1964. Although Ford recently unveiled several new electric models (F-150 Lightning, Tourneo Custom, Transit Courier, Explorer). It is currently the only electric model in the range, in France and in Europe.

A versatile compact crossover...This compact SUV competes in Europe with the electric Renault Mégane, Toyota bZ4X, Skoda Enyaq iV or Kia EV6. Waiting for the avalanche of electric novelties in the coming months! Offered with us in traction or all-wheel drive, its power levels range from 269 to 487 horsepower. Its speed has been electronically limited to 180 km/h, and its 0 to 100 km/h is shot in 5 seconds depending on the version. It offers two batteries with different capacities. The first, of 76 kWh, allows a range of 440 kilometers. The second of 99 kWh promises 610 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The Mach-E accepts fast charging up to 150 kW; for a 20 to 80% autonomy recovered in 26 minutes fast charging (99 kWh battery).

Cheaper, but still overpriced...Three trim levels are offered by us : Mach-E, Premium and finally GT. Equipment endowment is increasing, and the number of motors/battery size changes accordingly. Until now, the basic Mach-E finish was exchanged for a minimum of €61,650. For a single motor of 258 horsepower, and the battery of 76 kWh. But to align with the price war waged by Tesla on its Model Y, Ford has drastically lowered the price of its electric crossover! It is now displayed at €56,990 on the configurator, i.e. almost €5,000 less ! Citroën recently performed the same operation on its – already inexpensive – ë-C4. If we add to it the €5,000 ecological bonus, it becomes accessible from €51,990. Cheaper than before, of course, but still too expensive compared to its competitors. The Mustang name pays off! The recently unveiled Explorer will be in charge of offering a more accessible alternative to the prancing horse.
