Ford Mustang Saleen Speedster SA-40: celebrating its 40th anniversary with a very special edition

Saleen is a mythical American company from the 80s of the last century and is now celebrating its 40th anniversary with a very special edition of the sixth generation Ford Mustang. Dubbed the Saleen Speedster SA-40, this two-seater will be produced in a limited number of just 10 units. As you would expect, it has a Saleen body package and a suitably tuned V8 engine.

The model is a continuation of previous anniversary special editions. It was in 2018 when we got to know the latest SA-35. All examples will feature the striking Speedlab Yellow body color in combination with black graphics. It will have a starting price of $142,000 and the first of the units will be auctioned for charity.

The exterior of the Saleen Speedster SA-40 is very similar to other Mustangs prepared by the specialist. It features custom bumpers, side skirts, ventilated front fenders, hood air intakes and tinted headlamps. What is specific are the new five-spoke light-alloy wheels, as well as the unique soft top with carbon fiber arches.

These rest on the headrests and distinguish the Saleen SA-40 from production Ford Mustang Convertibles. Together with the absence of rear seats, they justify the name Speedster. Inside we can find a black leather upholstery with contrasting white stitching, various white upholstery and multiple details in yellow matching the bodywork.

Under the hood, the Saleen SA-40 shares most of its elements with the Saleen 302 Black Label. Thanks to this, it has a powerful supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that produces 811 hp and 915 Nm of maximum torque. Chassis upgrades include a Racecraft suspension and specific brakes signed by Saleen herself.
