PEUGEOT

PEUGEOT 508 ELÉTRICO ESTARÁ PRONTO EM 2025

Peugeot 508 will be another Tesla Model 3 rival, but will only hit the market around 2025

In two years, the Peugeot 508 will be yet another rival of the Tesla Model 3. The new French sedan will undergo a radical change both in its style and in its way of propulsion, to try to stand up to one of the best-selling and most powerful electric cars in the world. world.

The launch could happen around 2025, but the British Autocar already had the first interesting details of this new 'battery' model.

Most likely, the new 508 (assuming that name sticks) will be based on Stellantis' modular STLA platform, upon which most of the giant auto group's future models will be built.

The design should be very close to that of the Inception prototype, which was presented at CES in Las Vegas last January as an authentic 'manifesto' for the Peugeots of the future.

Given market trends, the French brand will be able to propose a slightly different aspect of the prototype, with a higher body and an aesthetic closer to a crossover, without becoming an SUV.

With the Peugeot 408, the lion brand has demonstrated that it can merge several segments into a single vehicle and the impression is that the future 508 will also follow the same path.

At the base of the new Peugeot 508 could be some of the technologies shown in Inception. These include a new electronically controlled steering ('by wire'), several advanced autonomous driving functions and a new generation of batteries that can also be recharged inductively.

At the moment it is difficult to imagine the exact range and performance of the electric 508. However, if the French brand really wants to challenge Tesla, it is worth expecting a range of at least 500-600 km and a power between 300 and 500 hp. Finally, another important issue will be the price: the drop in figures from the American manufacturer will also have a direct impact on its competitors during the coming months and years.
