EXCLUSIVE: R9, the unprecedented three-cylinder sports model based on the Yamaha MT-09 will arrive in 2024
At heart, these rumors have been circulating since the release of the R7 last year. The output of the R6 model increased the demand for such a machine. The arrival of the R9 was also revealed by the registration documents of the name itself, confirming that development is underway on a sports machine with the CP3 engine.
According to the new information provided by the Japanese portal Autoby, the aforementioned motorcycle will take its place in the Yamaha range in 2024.
Along with that information, Autoby has offered a set of renders that explain what the R9 could look like. As expected, the R9 will borrow many elements from the MT-09, including the aluminum frame and rear fork.
It is very likely that the R9 will have the same suspension system and brakes as the MT-09. We can expect the R9 to have a color TFT instrument panel, as well as the same electronics package. Similar to the MT-09, the R9 will have 117 hp available at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm.
According to Autoby, The R9 is expected to make its debut at the EICMA show in Milan in the fall.
