Tesla (TSLA34) earns $3.687 billion in Q4, beats expectations; stocks go up

Electric vehicle maker Tesla (TSLA34) reported net income of US$ 3.687 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022 (4Q22), an increase of 59% compared to the same period of 2021, the company said on Wednesday (25). The company's shares rose 0.22%, quoted at US$ 144.65, in the American after market, around 6:22 pm (Brasília time).

Adjusted earnings per share reached US$1.19 in 4Q22, above expectations from the Refinitiv consensus, which forecast earnings per share of US$1.13.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) totaled US$ 5.404 billion in 4Q22, an increase of 32% compared to 4Q21.

The adjusted Ebitda margin (Ebitda over revenue) reached 22.2% between October and December, down 0.9 percentage points (p.p.) compared to the margin recorded in 4Q21.

Total revenue amounted to US$ 24.32 billion in the fourth quarter of this year, growth of 37% compared to the same stage of 2021 and above the US$ 24.16 billion expected by the Refinitiv consensus.

Automotive revenue, in turn, amounted to US$ 21.307 billion in 4Q22, an increase of 33% over the value reported in 4Q21.

Automotive gross profit reached US$ 5.522 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022, an increase of 13% compared to the same stage in 2021.
