Five-door Jimny SUV is already a reality

After years of rumors and tons of spy shots, Suzuki has finally unveiled the five-door Jimny SUV. The SUV, which has always been a three-door, has been converted into a five-door with the help of Indian joint venture Maruti Suzuki.

If the three-door version of the Jimny in Japan has a length of 3395 mm, and the global version has grown to 3645 mm, then the five-door version received a body length of 3985 mm. Its wheelbase has been increased to 2,590 mm (+340 mm). The car has a width of 1645 mm and a height of 1720 mm, which corresponds to the three-door version.

The car received a black roof, which contrasts with the main Kinetic Yellow color. Large wheel arches, round headlights and a branded radiator grille also remained in place. The SUV gained 15-inch wheels with 195/80 rubber and a spare wheel at the rear.

The interior was largely carried over from the standard Jimny, right down to the handrail on the passenger side dash. The model will receive a rear seat that can accommodate up to three passengers. With the rear seats raised, its cargo volume is 208 litres, and can reach 332 litres.

The five-door Jimny SUV received a 9-inch screen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear view camera and Arkamys sound system. The car has uphill and downhill control, as well as six airbags, ESP and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).

This is a mild hybrid based on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 105 hp. with four-wheel drive system. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque converter automatic. Suzuki Jimny 5-Door owners will be able to choose between 2WD-high, 4WD-high and 4WD-low off-road modes. The clearance is 210 mm.

Maruti Suzuki will assemble the five-door Jimny at its Gurugram factory and is already taking orders in India, where it will go on sale in May. It is also expected to enter other markets including Africa, Australia and Latin America.
