Mégane RS Ultime: the limited series of the French sports compact hatch
Renault is unveiling a limited run of the Mégane RS to celebrate the rich history of the French sports compact hatchback. The Renault Mégane RS Ultime is a model for collectors, which concludes after 20 years a saga crowned with successes, which began in 2003.
The Mégane RS Ultime represents the last series of the Mégane RS and, above all, the last model to bear the Renault Sport logo, before the beginning of a story that will begin to be written by Alpine, the sports car brand of the Renault Group.
A unique design, even more sporty... The Mégane RS Ultime features an exclusive design, reminiscent of the visual standards of Renault Sport, including the double diamond and exclusive graphics inspired by the new Renault logo. These stickers are distributed on the roof and hood (with the exception of the sunroof option), the rear bumper, the doors and fenders. The paintwork in black with a matte finish makes it possible to harmonize with the 4 bodywork tones in the program: Étoilé Black, where the stickers are elegantly integrated; White Nacré, which has a very striking look; Sirius Yellow, to refer to the emblematic colors of Renault Sport; and Orange Tonic, which gives the model a strong contrast. In addition, the sticker on the right side discreetly includes the creation date of Renault Sport: 1976.
The bodywork of the Mégane RS Ultime features wider fenders, 60 mm at the front and 45 mm at the rear, side air vents, RS Vision headlamps, central exhaust system, shark antenna, a clamshell competition seat and a rear diffuser. For this limited series, several details now appear in black color, such as logos, door handles, window frames, wheel rims (even the bolt caps), the fender adornments, the rear diffuser and the F1 blade. the front bumper, which has been given a piano black treatment with an Ultime monogram. The chosen graphics have a gradient effect, which gives an even more dynamic look.
Complete package...The incomparable standard equipment of the Mégane RS Ultime includes several specifications of the Mégane RS and Mégane RS Trophy models: 9.3-inch screen navigation with Bose Hi-Fi system, 10-inch digital instrument panel, on-board telemetry of the RS Monitor, adaptive cruise control and 360° cameras for maneuvers. The list of options comes down to the heads-up display, sunroof and a cover with an exclusive design that will delight fans who choose this incredible collection model.
The interior is reminiscent of the track days... In the cabin, the Recaro shell-type competition seats covered in Alcantara in titanium black(image below), including the embroidered RS monogram, are standard. The hands-free card for identifying, accessing and starting the Mégane RS Ultime's engine is reminiscent of the diamond-shaped decorations on the bodywork stickers. In addition to the exclusive door sills, a numbered metal plate was installed below the console and close to the gear lever, marking the exclusivity of each model. The plaque bears the signature of Laurent Hurgon, the test and development driver for the Mégane RS who has followed all its evolutions, and who is also the author of the model's records at the Nürburgring, Suzuka and Spa-Francorchamps circuits.
“The Mégane RS represents 15 years of my work at Renault Sport. Since the Mégane II phase 2, we are always improving the dynamic attributes of the model to maintain the leadership among front-wheel drive sports cars. The records on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring circuit are unforgettable challenges, full of passion, adrenaline and emotion. And now the Mégane RS Ultime... I am very proud to sign the version that symbolizes the end of this wonderful epic”, said Laurent Hurgon, test and development driver for the Renault Group.
All the high-performance attributes of the Mégane RS Trophy... This limited series based on the Mégane RS Trophy features the same 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque, associated with the automatic transmission equipped with EDC dual clutch. (in Europe) and the Torsen mechanical differential, which allow you to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. It is fitted with Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slick tires, developed for the Mégane RS Trophy-R, paired with 19-inch Fuji Light wheel rims and Brembo brakes with dual cast technology, with red calipers.
