RALLY DAKAR 2023
Stage 7 of the Dakar 2023 for motorcycles and quads canceled
The weather is putting the organization of the 2023 Dakar Rally in check, which has made three changes to the route in the last two days. After modifying the route for days 6, 7 and 8 and then establishing a semi-marathon stage between tomorrow and the day after, the latest news is the suspension of tomorrow's stage for motorcycles and quads.
"Given today's weather difficulties and the high level of fatigue observed among all the riders in the category, the Dakar organization has decided to cancel the seventh stage special between Riyadh and Al Dawadimi," reads the ASO statement published this afternoon.
The pilots will therefore not have to cover the 333 timed kilometers scheduled for tomorrow, January 7, but they will have to travel to Al Dawadimi in the liaison section. Already on Sunday, January 8, they will compete again with the dispute of the 8th stage, which will unite Al Dawadimi and Riyadh in a special of 345 kilometers (also somewhat less than initially planned).
The cars, trucks and Classic will start... For its part, the seventh stage will be contested by the crews of the car and truck categories, as well as by the Dakar Classic drivers.
