MAZDA MX-30 e-SKYACTIV R-EV REVELADO NA EUROPA

MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV: plug-in hybrid version that uses a rotary engine as a generator

The Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV, a plug-in hybrid version that uses a rotary engine as a generator, makes its world premiere today at the Brussels Motor Show.

Model that led Mazda's electrification program, the MX-30 EV was launched in 2020 as the first 100% battery-electric vehicle in series production by the Hiroshima brand, later appearing on the line with a mild hybrid version, which became available only in selected markets outside mainland Europe.

Aligned with the 'living true to myself' product concept, the MX-30 offers pure and pleasant driving, an exterior with a familiar and accessible look, as well as an interior space that reassures the mind and heart, as a result of the use of welcoming materials. , in a combination of elements that turn the time spent on board and the experiences enjoyed together into moments of inspiration and creativity for its owners.

Now comes the new MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV, a series-production plug-in hybrid proposal that offers customers the same values as the original MX-30, simultaneously adding new ways of using the car as an electric vehicle to drums. The MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV has a battery-electric driving range of 85 km, sufficient for everyday use needs, as well as the ability to run on a generator to enable long-distance travel. On the whole, the driving range is driven by an electric solution.

Mazda chose to use a rotary engine to power this generator, taking advantage of the unique ability of rotary engines to produce the necessary power from a small block. This newly designed 8C rotary engine is housed in the mechanical compartment, along with the generator and a high-power electrical block. The compact power unit is coupled with a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 50-litre fuel tank, resulting in a unique plug-in hybrid system with a very competitive total driving range.

The MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV also supports customers with an active lifestyle, offering a number of features such as compatibility with normal AC, two-phase or three-phase charging, and fast DC charging, 1500W power functionality, plus three driving modes - Normal, EV and Charge - that adapt to different usage situations. Furthermore, thanks to the powerful 125 kW electric motor, it provides slightly better driving performance than the MX-30 EV.

Special Edition 'Edition R' enhances the MX-30 R-EV concept...The unit on display at Mazda's booth at the Brussels Motor Show is an 'Edition R', a special edition that will be available at the same time as the MX- 30 e-Skyactiv R-EV start marketing.

In terms of aesthetics, the MX-30 R-EV 'Edition R' differs from the standard version by the Maroon Rouge Metallic hue - a reissue of the roof color of the R360 Coupe, Mazda's first passenger vehicle - applied as an exclusive exterior color that accentuates the shapes around the sides of the roof, complementing the black tone applied to the rest of the bodywork, a color that also stands out in the interior finishes. The 'Edition R' version also includes other unique design elements, such as a rotor-shaped badge sewn into the floor mats and engraved into the headrests of the front seats.

Committed to contributing to the harmony of the natural environment, society and humanity, Mazda offers a simple and satisfying driving experience - in what it believes to be the inherent appeal of its cars - aiming to be a brand that inspires joy and vitality, in order to create a special bond with your customers.
