HONDA CHEGA A OITO MILHÕES DE MOTOS FLEX PRODUZIDAS NO BRASIL

Japanese company celebrates the production of 8 million flex bikes (powered by alcohol and gasoline) at its factory in Brazil

Pioneer in the development of the world's first bi-fuel motorcycle, Honda celebrates the production of 8 million flex-fuel motorcycles at its plant in Manaus (AM). The milestone was carried out by a CG 160 Fan.

In an unprecedented initiative in the segment, the project was developed in Japan in 2009, with the participation of Brazilian engineers, and aimed to create an engine with the least possible impact on the environment.

FlexOne technology was developed especially for the Brazilian market and introduced in the country with the CG 150 Titan Mix. Currently, it is present in eight motorcycles in the line up: Biz 125, CB 300F Twister, CG 160 Titan, CG 160 Fan, CG 160 Cargo, NXR 160 Bros, XRE 190 and XRE 300, which represent about 60% of the volume produced annually .

Ethanol is a fuel from a natural, renewable source and available on a large scale in Brazil, in addition, during its growth, sugarcane absorbs the carbon dioxide necessary for the process of photosynthesis from the atmosphere.

“Reaching the mark of eight million flex-fuel motorcycles produced represents the success of a project we started in 2009, with the development of the CG 150 Titan Mix, a launch that represented an important technological innovation in the segment. In addition to contributing to the reduction of emissions, in line with the brand's global vision, flex provides freedom to choose the fuel, according to the best cost-effectiveness", says Marcelo Langrafe, Commercial Director of Moto Honda & CRM (Management Relationship with Customer) of Honda South America.

The FlexOne technology is a Brazilian differential and will start to be exported to one of the largest markets in the world, India, starting in 2023. The strategy is part of the company's global vision of achieving carbon neutrality for the two-wheel segment during the 2040s, through two pillars: electrification and the evolution of combustion engines.

For the Brazilian market, flex fuel represents a fundamental solution for the brand to advance towards carbon neutrality and the country is a pioneer in the development and continuous improvement of bi-fuel technology.
