GAC GS3: the interesting Chinese model focusing on generation Z
Nowadays, many say that young people no longer dream so much about their own car. In China, however, this feeling is still very strong, and the GAC wants to exploit it with the new GS3, just presented. The model reached the new generation with profound changes, and according to the manufacturer, the focus is on the Z generation.
That is, the target audience of the GAC GS3 is consumers born between 1995 and 2010 - that is, it even includes people who cannot even drive yet. Among the requirements that seem to have been met, there is a clear attention to the look and a concern with the price: despite the future being electric, the utility is only offered with a 1.5 turbo engine, coupled to a 7-speed transmission with double clutch of wet box.
Detailed figures remain unknown, but it is likely that the GS3 will reach Chinese dealers with 152 hp and 265 Nm. Officially, the sports version R-Style is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. Consumption on the road is 16.2 km/l.
The mid-SUV's racy design is clearly evident at the front, which is reportedly inspired by a motorcycle helmet, and is notable for its dual front grille pattern and bumper shape.
At 4,400mm long, the GS3 is the size of a Jeep Compass, but that might not be as clear because the Chinese model is 5.5cm lower, at just 1,590mm tall. The wheelbase has also grown compared to the previous generation, reaching 2,650 mm.
The presence of few curves and details such as retractable door handles and the three-dimensional light signature of the taillights gives the car an air of a video game, and that's no wonder. GAC itself, in the publicity photos, showed how the GS3 would blend well in the setting of an electronic game, reinforcing the youthful appeal of the product.
Inside, the idea is followed by decoration in striking tones and the use of generous screens on the instrument panel, with interfaces that, once again, are reminiscent of games. The 32 different shades of light help to compose the environment, as well as artistic insertions in the car's seat belts.
Pricing for the new GAC GS3 has yet to be revealed
