Toyota GR 86 ADRO...The second generation of the Toyota GT 86, now renamed Toyota GR 86, is already a reality. As with the Subaru BRZ, the Toyota GR 86 received a profound aesthetic change. Both are now more differentiated and the GR 86 displays a design in line with Toyota Gazoo Racing's two flagship products, the GR Supra and GR Yaris. From the latter it inherits, for example, the Functional Matrix grid.
It was only a matter of time before the main experts in the accessories market got to work with the latest sports car from the Japanese brand. As it could not be otherwise, Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization (ADRO) was one of the preparers to enter the list of the most radical versions of the sport.
Aesthetically, the ADRO GR 86 has a body kit of its own design. It features elements such as the front bumper with a tremendous air intake and an aggressive splitter, huge side skirts, a prominent diffuser, a generously proportioned airfoil and remarkably widened wheel arches.
Competition wheels and a suspension lowered to undeniable limits complete the cast, although these are not offered by the coach himself. Each package is made from carbon fiber reinforced polymer, taking over 40 hours to complete by hand. Design work was completed in California, while manufacturing was carried out in Korea.
The specialist did not mention any mechanical modifications, but few users will leave the standard mechanics with these modifications. Remembering that the GR 86 mounts a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder 2.4-liter engine that we also find in the Subaru BRZ.
Compared to the previous generation, it arrives with a slight increase in power, delivering a total of 235 hp at 7,000 rpm and 250 Nm at 3,700 rpm, which allows the Toyota GR 86 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds (1.1 seconds less than its predecessor). The red line reaches 7,400 rpm.
Toyota claims that it has improved the engine's responsiveness to provide a better transition from low to high revs. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox.
