Jaguar Land Rover cuts production
The automotive industry has been heavily impacted by the global semiconductor crisis, with many manufacturers in the global automotive scenario facing difficulties in the production process due to this. Jaguar Land Rover is the latest big name to be forced to cut production numbers amid a semiconductor shortage.
Before stepping down as CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Thierry Bollore sounded the alarm on this, saying that this semiconductor crisis is not going to end anytime soon. Furthermore, there are informed voices that conveyed that the problem will persist at least until the year 2024.
The situation is proving dire enough for Jaguar Land Rover, with the British automaker announcing reduced production numbers at its UK factories until March next year, according to Carscoops. Thus, JRL's management is trying to find a solution to deal with this crisis that has caused many problems for the British manufacturer.
JLR will focus on the most profitable models...Production of the Range Rover Velar and Jaguar F-Pace models at the Solihull plant will be reduced until spring of next year, with the transition from two shifts to one beginning. Thus, Jaguar Land Rover will be able to focus on delivering its most profitable models, namely the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
Production at JLR's Halewood plant will also be affected by the decision, where the more affordable and less profitable Evoque and Discovery Sport SUVs are assembled. As with the Solihull factory, the work will be done in one shift. Instead, it appears that Defender production at the Nitra plant in Slovakia will not be affected in any way.
