Q8 E-Tron 2023: now in standard and Sportback versions
Audi has introduced the Q8 E-Tron, a new name for the updated E-Tron. This SUV is now the model that occupies the top of the German manufacturer's offer when it comes to electric cars, and will be marketed in standard and Sportback versions.
Compared to the E-Tron, the new electric Q8 has a drag coefficient of 0.27, up from 0.28 before. With the new Sportback, this value drops to 0.24, compared to 0.26 previously.
The Q8 E-Tron is available with two battery sizes and three drive options. Both body variants have an electric drive on each axle in the Q8 50 specification and have 340 PS in Boost mode and a torque of 664 Nm. The battery has a capacity of 95kWh, which is enough to travel 491km on a charge in the SUV model, or 505km in the Sportback.
The Q8 55 E-Tron and the Sportback have 408hp in Boost mode and 664Nm, and the base of the system is a 114kWh battery, which allows a range of 582km for the SUV and 600km for the Sportback. Finally, the SQ8 E-Tron has three electric units (one at the front and two at the rear), which together produce 503 hp and 973 Nm. The SUV version can cover 494 km and the Spotrback 513 km on a single charge. The SQ8 E-Tron is obviously the fastest and reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 4.5 seconds.
The standard versions are loaded with a maximum power of up to 150KW and the SQ8 variants up to 170kW. A more powerful charger for 31 minutes of operation guarantees a range of 420 km. All vehicles can be charged with a standard power of 11kW and an optional power of 22kW.
The suspension is air and, depending on the situation, it can raise the vehicle by up to 76 mm. Audi has overhauled the steering system for faster response to steering wheel commands.
In the cabin, there are several high-resolution displays in front of the front seat passengers, including a digital instrument cluster for the driver. In the central segment is a 10.1-inch multimedia display, and there is also an 8.6-inch auxiliary display for controlling various functions. The data display on the windshield in front of the driver is in the list of optional equipment. In markets where it is allowed, outside mirrors are replaced by cameras.
The cabin is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, two-zone (optionally four-zone) air conditioning and the list of additional equipment includes a massage function in the front seats. Among the technologies that assist the driver is the new remote parking system. Customers can control the vehicle via smartphone without being in the car.
Sales in Europe will start in February 2023 and the starting price in Germany is 74,400 euros.
