ROLLS ROYCE

Spectre: the ultra-luxury electric supercoupe

With the launch of the Specter, Rolls-Royce establishes a new class of motor vehicles: the ultra-luxury electric supercoupe, the press release said.

The Rolls Royce Specter is the British luxury carmaker's first electric vehicle and, at nearly three tonnes, it is also the heaviest yet.

Rolls-Royce's first production electric vehicle (EV) has been unveiled in the form of the Specter. Billed as the world's first luxury electric super coupe, the Rolls-Royce Specter is still in the final stages of testing (which won't end until mid-2023). However, orders for the first Rolls EV have already been opened, with deliveries expected to begin in late 2023.

In the words of Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, the Specter is the Rolls-Royce product that achieves perfection.

At the same time, the debut of the Specter marks a pivotal moment for the British brand, which has committed to going all-electric by 2030.

The Rolls-Royce Specter achieves perfection...In terms of design, the Specter resembles its Wraith sibling in that it is quite similar to the diesel coupe, especially in profile. However, a closer look would reveal the front end that is much more modern, with a split headlight setup and the 'Pantheon' grille, which is the widest ever fitted to a Rolls.

The grid is almost completely sealed and is also illuminated with 22 LEDs. Even the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy figurine has been modified for better aerodynamic efficiency, and this is reflected in the drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, the lowest value ever for a Rolls.

Dimensionally, the Specter measures 5453mm long, 2080mm wide and 1559mm high with a wheelbase of 3210mm. This means the Specter is longer than the Wraith, but also longer than the Cullinan. However, it is shorter than the Phantom Coupe. Its generous proportions, as well as the large battery that powers it, make the Specter the heaviest Rolls-Royce car to date, weighing in at 2,975 kg.

Final power, acceleration and range figures are still being updated...The Rolls-Royce Specter is expected to have a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of over 100 kWh. That means a WLTP range of over 500 kilometers, and initial tests indicate that number will approach 520 kilometers. Energy consumption is currently estimated at 21.5 kWh per 100 km.

Rolls-Royce did not specify the exact engine configuration for the Specter, but in the press release it is confirmed that it will develop a maximum power of 430 kW (about 585 hp) and a torque of 900 Nm, which makes it more powerful. than the Phantom Coupe with V12 engine.

The 0-100 km/h sprint on the Specter will take 4.5 seconds. The Rolls-Royce Specter charges from 10% to 80% in just 34 minutes when connected to a 195kW DC fast charger.

Price-wise, the Specter will fall between the Cullinan SUV and the Phantom sedan.
