ALPINE A110 R: the most extreme model of the brand makes its debut on the legendary Nurburgring circuit
Today the Paris Motor Show opens (yes, there are still shows), and the Alpine stand includes – among others – the A110 R. However, last week – and more specifically, on October 13th – the company Frenchwoman was at the Nurburgring track to make the final tests of development of the most “track” version of the model.
Behind the wheel was French driver Laurent Hurgon, who had set the lap record in the Renault Megane RS Trophy R and, as you will see, he is going extremely fast in the A110 R.
The A110 R is more extreme, lighter, more refined and more motorsport-inspired than ever before, with the French company claiming that the letter “R” comes from the word radical. That is the word that describes the car as it is the crown jewel of the A110 line.
The A110 R is designed to be thrilling on the track, but stays cool on the streets, being the ultimate expression of lightness and performance. It makes extensive use of carbon parts, with its weight reduction coming in at 34kg from the A110 S, coming in at a total of just 1,082kg.
The carbon rims are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Connect tires, dimensions 215/40 at the front and 245/40 at the rear. Mechanically, the 1,800 turbo four-cylinder engine produces 300 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, available from 2,400 to 6,000 rpm. It takes just 3.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill, while the top speed reaches 285 km/h.
