HUCK CYCLES
Lightweight electric motorcycles are of interest not only to fans of motocross and off-road driving. North Carolina-based moped maker Huck Cycles said the Husk Overland is being tested by the US military and various government and private agencies.
Founded by U.S. veteran Airborne Brett McCoy, the company designs and sells electric bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles that look like building blocks. But that doesn't seem to discourage residents of New York, Los Angeles and Miami, who, according to McCoy, readily choose their products for their daily commute.
Furthermore, the rough and angular appearance should not confuse soldiers, who obviously need a fast, passable and smooth means of transport to patrol borders, conduct reconnaissance, evacuate wounded and carry out other tactical operations. Now, one of the company's models - Husk Overland - is being tested in conditions close to combat, reports Electrek.
Inspired by the classic Honda Motra minibike from the 80s, the Husk Overland weighs just 65kg. A silent electric motor with a rated power of 3 kW and a peak power of 6 kW produces up to 8 hp. With. and is powered by a 3 kWh battery, enough for 64 km. The maximum speed is 72 km/h.
A moped that costs $5,800 is usually bought for outdoor activities, hunting and fishing, but residents of big cities also found it attractive.
California startup JetPack Aviation, best known for developing jetpacks, started riding motorcycles earlier this year and created a separate brand, Mayman Aerospace, to promote them. The brand's first product is the Speeder, a single-seat vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. It is claimed that it will be able to fly 640 km at a speed of 800 km/h and carry loads weighing 450 kg.
