Mustang Shelby GT500 Hennessey Venom 1200
Hennessey Performance, a Texas-based tuner and creator of high-performance vehicles, has confirmed production of its new Hennessey Venom 1200. On the basis of a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, its latest masterpiece will be one of most powerful cars the company has ever produced.
The factory Shelby GT500, built by Ford Performance, features a hand-built 5.2-litre supercharged V8 engine with an output of 760 hp and 847 Nm of torque.
The Hennessey Performance team, which has been “making fast cars even faster” for more than 30 years, has made extensive improvements to the factory setup to significantly increase power and torque. They include a larger-capacity 3.8-liter supercharger, a high-flow system, new fuel tubes and injectors, and an air/oil separation system. In addition, accessories, ducts, belts and tensioners were updated, and the dual clutch transmission was recalibrated.
When the Venom 1200 leaves the Hennessey facility, its upgrades improve the figures to a spectacular 1,204 hp and 1,223 Nm of torque, a staggering performance boost.
With a Ford Shelby GT500 as its base, the Venom 1200 package offers upgrades to the 5.2-liter V8 engine, of which only 66 will be built. Owners will have the option to add the historic color of the 1966 Ford Mark II GT40 from the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Each transformation has a full 1 year warranty, but the definitive prices of the base model including the upgrade package were not revealed.
