Ford GT LM: the ultimate

With the Ford GT LM, the brand reflects on its successes during its participation in Le Mans. Americans consider the 2016 victory especially important, when Ford finished 1st and 3rd with the new GT during its first run after 50 years of absence. The road car that the brand later launched in 2017 is based on that Le Mans racer. Quite special, because racing cars usually don't have much to do with the street cars they resemble.

Either way, Ford is proud of it. So much so that it incorporated the crankshaft of the car that took third place in 2016 in all 20 GT LMs it produces now. The emblem that adorns the dashboard in front of the front passenger's nose is 3D printed with a metal that was made from that car's crankshaft material. Ford's racing team dismantled the car's engine in third place, "ripped off" the crankshaft and melted it down with some extra metal.

Red or Blue...As the participants in the 2016 Ford 24 Hours of Le Mans race were dressed in blue and red, you can choose between blue or red accents when ordering the GT LM. Americans dye the carbon fiber elements on the outside of the car in the color of their choice, then fold the driver's seat in Alcantara blue or red. The interior of the carbon fiber wheels is also dyed blue or red.

In addition, Ford injects all liquid silver LM's and for this edition they get exclusive 3D printed titanium exhausts with a 'cyclone shape' as the brand calls it. The Ford GT LM is the ninth special edition of the model. For each of these editions, Ford has left the GT engine untouched, meaning LM also does so with a 3.5-liter V6 biturbo, good for 660 hp and a top speed of 348 km/h.
