Startup chinesa mostrou concorrente avançado de piloto automático Tesla FSD

Chinese car company announced its advanced autopilot system

Chinese car company XPeng Motors has announced the launch of the pilot program to test the advanced system for the Driver City Navigation Pilot (NGP). According to the developers, they were the first in the PRC to produce a product so effective for urban navigation that it can compete with the Tesla FSD autopilot.

Despite the crisis in logistics and other sectors of the world economy, XPENG remains China's most significant electric vehicle manufacturer, writes Electrek. The company produced 68,983 cars in the first half of the year, increasing the indicators compared to 2021 by 124%. According to XPeng, that's enough to be number one in sales "among China's young car brands" by four quarters in a row.

Last year, the company released the NGP version intended for autonomous control of the car on the tracks. It was available for a premium P7 sedan configuration. Driver assistance functions worked without Lidars, but with limited functionality: the system turned off on city streets.

For the first time, the company introduced NGP to the city in September 2021, showing a video of how the program leads a car through city streets without human intervention. In July of this year, XPeng shared even more compelling material. And today's press release signifies the start of the city's NGP software testing program in Guangzhou.

Unlike Tesla, XPeng uses, in addition to sensors, radars and cameras, LiDAR as well. The Chinese developer also has a surrounding reality view, in which you can see the entire surroundings of the car from a three-dimensional environment.

In particular, City NGP knows how to: drive at a safe distance from the car driving in front of the car; rebuild; walk through transport and permanent obstacles; maintain an adequate speed; automatically respond to traffic lights; Perform turns, curves, move along tunnels, viaducts and intersections.

They promise that the program will soon be available in other cities in China.

Young Company XPeng is developing not only cars but also flying devices. Last year, she declared herself a robot maker. As made clear in an interview with the founder and boss of Ha Xiaopen, these innovative areas play a significant role in XPENG's plans for the future.
