Focus ST: for sporty driving enthusiasts
True driving enthusiasts can now take their Focus ST's track performance to even greater heights with a new Track Pack option for the latest generation of the compact sports car.
Developed by Ford Performance and extensively tested at Ford's facilities and on the famous Nordschleife layout of the Nürburgring circuit in Germany, the factory-proposed Track Pack is available exclusively for the five-door body, in the version equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, for a optimized weight and a greater focus on the driver.
Complementing the 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.7 seconds and the top speed of 250 km/h delivered by a 280 hp Ford EcoBoost petrol engine with 2.3 liters of displacement, the new Track Pack allows drivers to precisely adjust , the responsiveness for track driving with an adjustable coilover suspension system from KW Automotive that works in harmony with the alloy wheels.
In addition, the Track Pack increases the performance of the braking system with 363 mm front discs and Brembo brake calipers. A unique tire specification also helps optimize traction for superior responsiveness.
The Focus ST Track Pack is available to order from today in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with first deliveries scheduled for November.
Circuit-minded performance and control... Developed in conjunction with the motorsport experts at KW Automotive, the Track Pack's coilover suspension system features a stainless steel shock absorber frame that offers up to 12 levels of compression adjustment. and 16 levels of decompression adjustment. The two tuning modes allow regular track day riders to adjust their Focus ST's suspension responses and even tune the performance to suit their favorite circuits.
The dampers work in conjunction with lacquered-finish springs that are up to 50% stiffer and lower ground clearance by 10 millimeters compared to the standard Focus ST, lowering the center of gravity and helping to reduce body roll to faster directional changes. Riders can also adjust the suspension for an additional reduction of up to 15mm in height where permitted by local legislation.
The 19-inch alloy wheels are produced using a process that compacts the aluminum alloy to retain tensile strength and increase its shock resistance, while using less material for a lighter alloy. The result is wheels that are 10% lighter than standard and can change vertical direction more quickly, which improves tire contact and grip for optimized acceleration, braking and cornering behavior. The wheels are hunted with grip-optimised Pirelli P Zero Corsa-specific tires for uncompromising capability both on the track and on dry roads.
Braking performance has also been improved. Front discs are 10% larger in diameter than the standard 330mm discs, combined with Brembo's four-piston fixed calipers to improve retention and provide more area to dissipate heat faster, reducing fatigue. induced by high temperatures during prolonged sessions on the track.
More agile behavior. Sharper styling...Exclusive Track Pack exterior styling provides an even more distinctive look following the introduction last year of a bolder exterior design that further enhances the Focus ST's high-performance character.
The exclusive ST rear spoiler, rear diffuser and front bumper elements are finished in high-gloss Agate Black, regardless of body colour. All three elements provide passive aerodynamic effects, optimizing downforce and stability.
The Focus ST Track Pack's roof, upper grille and exterior mirror housings are also finished in high-gloss Agate Black. A similar high-gloss black effect has also been applied to the alloy wheels, behind which the bright red brake calipers appear.
Other unique exterior details include subtle black contours for the ST logos instead of the regular chrome finish. Eye-catching body colors include Agate Black, Fantastic Red, Frozen White, Magnetic and Mean Green, a hue exclusive to the ST.
Last year, Ford also introduced all-new interior features to the Focus ST, including in-house developed Ford Performance seats, which can now be fully exploited by Focus ST Track Pack drivers for maximum support and comfort on the track.
Advanced cabin technologies include a 13.2-inch central touchscreen with an intuitive interface, meaning drivers are never more than a tap or two away from any app, information or control they need.
The Focus ST's 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine delivers 280 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm, supported by a twin-scroll turbocharger with anti-lag technology.
Performance benefits from other elements including the flat-shift function, which lets you keep the throttle open when the clutch is engaged during gear changes, as well as an innovative electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) that hydraulically activates your clutches. to redistribute up to 100% of the available torque to the wheels with the most traction, minimizing the effect of loss of traction. Acting faster and more accurately than a purely mechanical differential, the system pre-adjusts torque based on information from engine and vehicle sensors.
Drivers can also take advantage of selectable driving modes to adjust eLSD, throttle mapping, electronically assisted steering and electronic stability control (ESC) actuation to suit the driving scenario. A track mode also provides sharper responses and more freedom within the ESC system for maximum feedback and driver involvement.
