TOYOTA
Demand for the Toyota Land Cruiser Series 70 is so high in Australia that the automaker is no longer taking orders.
Despite the fact that the 70 Series has been in production since 1984, it is still extremely popular thanks to its sturdiness and relative simplicity compared to modern SUVs.
Demand has been increasing recently, so Toyota Australia has been forced to temporarily stop accepting new orders.
Supply availability is being affected by ongoing production disruptions faced by the global automotive industry, the automaker recently confirmed. At the same time, the model's popularity among Australian buyers remains high.
Toyota manufactures the LandCruiser 70 in Japan and is believed to be one of the hardest-hit vehicles amid the ongoing semiconductor shortage that continues to plague the industry.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 70 is so popular in Australia that just a few months ago the Japanese company announced a series of upgrades to it, including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.
Toyota has also increased the vehicle's carrying capacity. In 2021, approximately 13,900 Land Cruiser 70 models were sold nationwide.
It's uncertain how long those with a Land Cruiser 70 order will have to wait. However, there are rumors that the wait time has increased to three to four years. Toyota has denied the allegation.
