Company offers special conditions for customers in China
Until now, Tesla's business model has meant rejecting utility services in the usual sense of the term, as well as minimal margins for electric vehicles and a unified pricing policy for the region of presence. However, there is reason to believe that increased competition in the Chinese domestic market is forcing the company to compromise on its marketing policy and offer discounts to loyal customers.
This is reported by the publication Electrek, citing information distributed among Tesla customers in China. The loyalty program applies to local owners of all four mass-produced models, although the Model S and Model X flagships are produced only in the United States and enter China through import channels. The company is trying to encourage Tesla electric vehicle owners to switch to a new vehicle of the same brand, offering a variety of price preferences.
First, owners of an enhanced autopilot or fully autonomous driving option receive a $4,750 (50%) discount on the purchase of FSD on a new electric vehicle. Second, those who want to exchange their old Tesla for a new one in China are given a free charge cap at the brand's Supercharger stations, equivalent to 15,000 km. Finally, you can save about $1,200 on installing a home charger. Tesla does not satisfy its customers in other markets with similar conditions, and unexpected generosity could indicate that competitors in China are starting to tighten its position more and more, forcing it to be more flexible in its marketing policy. For Tesla, China is not only the biggest market for electric vehicles, but also produces the majority of electric vehicles supplied outside the United States of this brand.
