Forester STI 2023: sports package and supercharged 1.8L engine

But while the 2004-08 year car was a full-fledged STi with over 260 hp, the new one is definitely more stylish but lacks the extra horsepower compared to the previous model.

Visual additions such as 18-inch black alloy wheels, black outside mirrors, front fog lights bezel with black accents, black side fascia and finished roof spoiler help create the right image of the STI you won't be disappointed. surprised to learn that they are made in black. The interior features black nappa leather seats with burgundy accents and red stitching, black roof lining and door pillars, STI Sport gauges, black instrument panel and leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Most Japanese Foresters come with the brand's 2.0-liter e-Boxer hybrid powertrain, but the STI gets the turbocharged 1.8-liter non-hybrid boxer found on the Forester Sport. This provides 174 hp. and 300 Nm for Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system via the mandatory CVT gearbox.

Indeed, with the exception of the darkened chrome finish and STI badges, the regular Sport appears to be no different from the STI Sport. But they differ in important equipment as only the STI Sport has STI tuned dampers. They're designed to give the crossover the "driving stability" of a sports sedan, says Subaru.

Subaru has not confirmed that the STI Sport trim will leave Japan and reach buyers in North America or Europe. But, reading how the Forester is being sold in these regions, and the fact that no market gets the Forester 1.8 turbo, it's entirely possible that this remains a curiosity.
