Chevrolet is suspending production of the Corvette a week before Labor Day in the US. GM's main Mexico plant will also end production next week. The reason for the suspension of production is not new, as problems with supply chains and spare parts have continued to plague automakers around the world since last year.
According to a Chevrolet spokesperson, “Due to a temporary issue with parts delivery, we can confirm that the assembly processes will not be operational next week.
Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production, and we expect the factory to resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 6, following the annual celebration. of GM's Labor Day on Monday, September 5th.
This means that the Bowling Green assembly plant in Kentucky will not produce the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 from Aug. 29 through Sept. 5.
Meanwhile, GM's main Mexico plant, which makes GMC and Chevrolet pickup trucks, is expected to return to normal operations on Sept. 5, according to Automotive News. Production at GM's other three truck plants is unaffected by the suspension. The truck assembly plant in Flint, Michigan, will also run extra shifts this weekend, according to the publication.
Not long ago, our publication wrote that Porsche plans to produce around 80,000 electric Porsche Macan every year. Porsche has big ambitions for the all-electric Macan, so big it expects it to be as popular as the current combustion-powered model.
