For drivers, Direct Connection will offer several new ways to help them build their own race cars. The Challenger Drag Pak chassis will now be available for purchase. Basically, it's a complete car minus the engine and transmission. This includes the car's chassis, roll cage, four-link rear axle suspension, 9-inch rear axle, differential brakes, Weld wheels and Mickey Thompson drag tires.
Pay $89,999 for the chassis and add any engine and transmission you want. If you want to create something a little more custom, Dodge will also sell Challenger bodies for $7,995. Note that they do not come with VINS, so you will not be able to register the bodies as legal cars after assembly.
In terms of powertrains, Dodge will begin offering eight-speed Scat Pack 8HP70 automatic transmissions for its box engine packages. Hellcat 8HP90 transmissions will be available later.
Dodge is also partnering with several aftermarket companies to offer some special carbon fiber parts. SpeedKore, made famous by Mopar's carbon fiber assembly, will make exterior parts for the Challenger that Dodge will sell. 1970 Charger carbon fiber cases.
Subsequently, the company will develop the Barracuda and Roadrunner bodies, which will also be offered via direct connection.
