EXCLUSIVE: Amid war and heavy Western sanctions, Russian manufacturer LADA tries to rebuild itself by announcing the production of the innovative LADA e-Largus electric vehicle

AvtoVAZ management has announced a production revamp: production of the LADA Vesta model will be transferred from Izhevsk to Tolyatti for the B0 transporter, and the LADA-Izhevsk company will start production of the innovative LADA e-Largus electric vehicle this year, which will be available in three versions. The machine platform was presented in Izhevsk.

The electric version of Largus will be available in 5- and 7-seater versions, which will receive a range of 350-400 km, as well as in a van version – for it the range will be limited to 250 km, which is compensated by its payload. of 800 kg. As for traction batteries, the final decision has not yet been made, but the manufacturer is considering options for nickel-cobalt-magnesium or lithium-iron-phosphate batteries.

The LADA e-Largus model will receive a modern package: there will be a multimedia system, reversing camera, stabilization system, airbags and ABS. The power steering will be replaced by an electric power steering – this was done intentionally to equip the car with an automatic parking system in the future. Mass production of the LADA e-Largus will be launched at the Izhevsk plant in 2023.

AvtoVAZ management is making a big bet on the updated model. Demand for it will be determined by time, however, it is noted that a company in Udmurtia will be able to produce tens of thousands of electric vehicles a year.

In spring 2023, assembly of the LADA Vesta model will begin on the B0 assembly line in Togliatti, with a capacity of 60 cars per hour. Before, Renault Logan and Sandero left this line.
